Our school band, The Kolan South State School Corps of Drums, was established in 1988. It is well known and one of only two school marching bands in the Bundaberg District. The band uses bass, tenor, and snare drums, along with cymbals and tambourines and consists of 26 students ranging from ages 9-11. At Runcorn High we are beginning to plan for a school gym which would be accessible to students and community members. This money would help us purchase new equipment to get the idea off the ground and help build an active and healthy community.

At Marsden State school they are fundraising to provide covered walkways to classrooms without them. The students must currently deal with being exposed to the nasty summer QLD sun and torrential rain when moving between classrooms and other areas. Knowing your child is possibly sitting soaking wet for most of the day from being caught out in the rain is not something any parent wishes to think...
