Sherwood is named after an original property in the area, thought to be named after Sherwood Forest in England. The true centrepiece of Sherwood is the Arboretum which was established in 1924 and has over 16 hectares of parklands, BBQ’s, 2 playgrounds and a rainforest walk along the river.
Sherwood has an established business district which includes a Woolworths and many thriving small businesses located near the train line.
