Our school band, The Kolan South State School Corps of Drums, was established in 1988. It is well known and one of only two school marching bands in the Bundaberg District. The band uses bass, tenor, and snare drums, along with cymbals and tambourines, and consists of 26 students ranging from ages 9-11. The band preforms at many local events each year, and the members commit to attending practice sessions twice a week all year round to prepare beats and marching diagrams for these public performances. So far this year the students have given up their time over the school holidays to lead the parade at the Yesteryear Rally, and arrived at school at 5.30am on ANZAC Day to lead the Community ANZAC Parade. The band is in great need of new equipment, including drum parts, hats, uniforms, new signage and is currently fundraising to raise the money required to purchase this equipment. $1,000- would go a long way in supporting and updating our band. Most equipment that we currently use is nearly 30 years old and in need of replacing or constant repairs. Thank you for your support.
I forgot to say my beautiful daughter was also a member and started very young on a triangle and finished when she ended Primary School. They all went on to be in the High school band. Love them all dearly. Please help keep this band going. A band that has gone on for many years.
