Sheldon college are planning a trip to South America in 2018. The purpose of this trip is to expose students to a culture that is totally passionate about Music & Dance and where at the same time it is an integral part of Every day life. The students will visit Uruguay, Chile and Argentina. They plan to donate musical instruments and perform in schools during the trip. this could be a life changing experience for this cohort of students, ( made up of vocalists, dancers & musicians) visiting and contributing to what is one of the poorest parts of the world in a very unique way. Any donation of smaller unwanted/ unused instruments that can be donated would also be very welcome.
There are so many worthwhile campaigns on this page already; best wishes to all who are involved. With our campaign, we're wanting to do something very special, by taking 40 young musicians to South American communities where music & dance is everything, but money & resources are scarce. The students will be donating instruments to small schools in Chile, while immersing themselves in the amazingly rich cultural tapestry that is South America.
These children work ao hard at their art all year. They will have the opportunity to learn and experience first hand the latin culture expressed through music. They will be travelling with extra musical instruments to donate to schools who currently have limited supplies for their students.
Wow, an absolutely awesome experience for all students involved. I love to see the students being able to have these opportunities and am glad they're coupled with the giving of musical instruments for others to use. It's important that our privileged children see how lucky they are and how easy it is to pass this good fortune forward. Not only do our students benefit, but children from other countries also see the generosity of some of our wonderful Australians. Good luck Sheldon.
